This Touratech Suspension lowering system is fully integrated into the motorcycle via the original BMW control unit. This Touratech DDA / Plug & Travel suspension system is built with the same precision components and parts that have been proven in our shock absorbers over thousands of miles of travel, in the most intense conditions. At the heart of this suspension system is the high-performance DDA valve, developed and patented by Tractive. It allows the damping to adjust in fractions of a second to any driving situation. To withstand the rigors of long-distance travel, our shock absorbers have a larger piston diameter, which means greater oil capacity. This allows for better cooling with a high damping frequency. As a result, the shock absorber and damping are more stable and there is less stress on the joints.

Important note: With this suspension solution, the rear and front of the motorcycle must be adapted together. The side stand and/or main stand must be adapted to ensure that your BMW R1200GS/R1250GS stands firm.

* The basic configuration mounted here is designed for riders with up to 100 kg of additional luggage. Modifications are possible for a heavier rider (over 100 kg) and / or if the bike is normally ridden with a passenger / with luggage. In this case, we individually modify the shock absorber to meet your needs by installing a spring with a higher spring rate. Please use our suspension check and send us the completed form.

Adjustable high-speed and low-speed damping- Separate settings for high-speed and low-speed compression damping allow you complete control of the damping tuning to give you the precise handling characteristics you want in any condition. This allows you to control how the bike handles in a high-speed corner to how it behaves while soaking up a bump.

Floating Piston Superiority: Touratech suspension uses a floating piston design that offers the best damping performance because it physically separates the nitrogen gas from the oil. Most shock absorbers use oil emulsion damping that allows the oil to mix with the nitrogen gas in a foaming process that essentially "thins" the oil and prevents the shock from functioning properly. When the oil is "foamed," the bike sinks easily and also rises too quickly, resulting in erratic handling and an unstable ride.

With the floating piston design of the Touratech suspension, there is a physical separation of oil and nitrogen gas, which means you can ride rough roads all day long and enjoy consistently high performance. Why buy a shock whose performance gets worse the more you ride it? Before you invest in a new suspension for your R1200GS, make sure it has a floating piston design.

Stainless steel bushings: While many shocks use aluminum bushings where the shock mounts to the motorcycle, Touratech Suspension uses high-strength, non-corrosive stainless steel. This creates a strong, rigid connection that is important for loaded touring motorcycles. The stainless steel bushings protect against corrosion and seizure and offer low maintenance and longer life.

This Touratech DDA Suspension / Plug & Travel Suspension is manufactured with identical precision elements and components that have already proven their suitability in our shock tubes, tested over thousands of miles in the harshest conditions. The heart of this suspension is the high-performance DDA valve developed and patented by Tractive. Thanks to it, the damping can be adapted in tenths of a second to every driving situation. Our shock absorber tubes, which are subjected to high stresses during long trips, have a larger piston diameter and thus a larger oil volume. As a result, they have better cooling and a higher damping frequency. The damping tube and the suspension itself are therefore more stable and the seals do not suffer as much.

Low friction seal: the "backbone" of our seals virtually eliminates frictional interference in the damping activity. In other shock absorbers, the seals deform as damping pressure increases and cause clogging in the shaft. The Touratech suspension is equipped with a patented low-friction retainer that is backed by a Teflon back-up ring. This Teflon "backbone" prevents the seal from deforming and eliminates clogging at the shaft, even at high pressures. The result is better performance, greater reliability and longer life, even in harsh environments.

Oversized high-strength axle: Touratech suspension uses 16 mm high-strength chrome-molybium steel alloy.

Aluminum shock tube body: some manufacturers use a steel body to reduce cost. The Touratech suspension uses cold-forged 6082 T6 aluminum to make the tube lighter, stronger and more durable. It also dissipates heat 30% more effectively than steel, resulting in more stable and predictable damping that provides better handling and a smoother ride. A cooler body will also have more consistent damping and a longer service life.

Fully serviceable: all Touratech suspension is fully serviceable and can be customized or rebuilt by Touratech-Spain or any qualified suspension technician.
