The catalytic converter is a metal honeycomb structure that incorporates precious metals (palladium, rhodium and platinum) on its surface. These metals convert poisonous carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons found in exhaust gases into non-toxic carbon dioxide and water vapor.
