Puig Sport-Touring Adjustable Screen for BMW F850GS (2018-2021)

From Puig present the new Puig Touring-Racing adjustable dome.

It is a piece made of high impact methacrylate, a material that guarantees the integrity of the dome to any possible impact and allows it to be strong against inclement weather, and has the particularity of allowing to be regulated, without tools, to provide the aerodynamic protection demanded by each situation and route. From a racing position in the city, to a higher position for Off-Road routes.

The design of this screen has managed to find a precise balance between lines that follow the architecture of the bike and shapes that offer aerodynamic protection that allows long rides with unusual comfort.

It is a screen made up of two elements: the lower part is fixed to the same anchor points as the original screen and the upper part allows height adjustment. This adjustment is 80 mm being its lowest position +17.5 cm higher than the original dome and its highest position +25.5 cm higher than the original dome.

It is an ideal screen for those riders who like to ride on different roads: For freeways or fast roads: dome in high position (maximum protection); For curvy roads: dome in middle position (the one that allows the rider, depending on his height, to look over the dome); For tracks or off-road roads: dome in low position (maximum visibility).

In general, the dome design is designed to provide maximum protection and comfort for a rider profile between 1.75 m and 1.80 m in height. In the event that the rider is outside this height range, the adjustable Touring windscreen is ideal as it allows the rider to adjust the height of the windscreen until the desired level of protection is achieved

Adjusting the screen is extremely easy with the help of a simple Phillips screwdriver. By loosening the 4 Allen screws on the inside of the dome by one turn, the movable part of the dome can be slid to its ideal position.

Regardless of the adjustment possibility, the aerodynamic department has included in the design an air channel between the fixed and the movable part that, to some extent, causes a 'Ventury' effect by accelerating the air flow and thus lengthening the curve of the air flow that is deflected by the dome. At the same time, the air flow through the channel helps to compensate for the depression that is created by default between the dome and the rider, thus reducing possible turbulence that could be generated.

Material

High impact methacrylate 3mm thick. It is a material with a great balance between a good impact resistance and a good hardness against scratches. It is possible to choose between transparent, light smoked and dark smoked colors.

Mounting

The screen is supplied with the two parts mounted together and adjusted to the lowest position. The installation to the motorcycle is very simple, does not require the knowledge of a professional mechanic and the estimated duration is a maximum of 20 minutes.
